Terms of Service

Last updated 2 October 2026

These terms govern your use of ServiceBase. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. Please read section 3 in particular — it explains what ServiceBase does and, just as importantly, what it does not do.

1. Who you are dealing with

ServiceBase is operated by Liam Glasby trading as ServiceBase. You can reach us at myservicebase@gmail.com, and the site is at servicebase.co.za.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or older. Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings.

3. What ServiceBase is — and is not

ServiceBase is an advertising platform. We introduce; we do not broker. Providers pay us to publish a listing. Customers browse those listings and message providers through the site. That is the entire service.

Concretely, this means:

  • We are not a party to any agreement you reach with a provider or a customer. That agreement is between the two of you.
  • We take no commission, fee or percentage of any work arranged through the site. What a provider quotes you is between you and them.
  • We do not handle payment for any job. We never hold your money, and we do not offer escrow or payment protection.
  • We do not set prices, schedule work, guarantee availability, supervise quality, or arbitrate disputes about work done.
  • We do not employ providers. They are independent businesses, responsible for their own licensing, insurance, tax and compliance.

If something goes wrong with a job, your claim is against the provider, not against ServiceBase. We will help where we reasonably can — including removing a listing that breaks these terms — but we are not the counterparty.

4. Listings

If you publish a listing, you confirm that:

  • The business is real, you are entitled to represent it, and the details are accurate.
  • You hold whatever licences, registrations or insurance your trade legally requires.
  • You own the photos you upload, or have permission to use them.
  • You will keep the listing up to date, and take it down if you stop trading.

One listing per provider account. We may remove any listing that is misleading, unlawful, impersonates someone else, advertises something we do not permit, or exists to harvest contact details rather than to trade.

5. What the verified badge means

A verified badge means one thing: someone at ServiceBase has satisfied themselves that the business is real and that the person behind the listing represents it. Usually that is from documents the provider supplied; sometimes it is from direct knowledge of the business.

It is not a guarantee of anything else. It is not a warranty of workmanship, a recommendation, an insurance policy, a credit check, or confirmation that any licence is currently valid. Verification happens at a point in time and circumstances change. Do your own checks before you hire anyone.

6. Paid listings

Publishing a listing costs R99 per listing per month. Each account gets one free introductory trial, starting the day it publishes its first listing. The trial length that applies to you is the one being offered when you publish; it is fixed for your account at that moment and does not change afterwards, whatever we offer later. After the trial, payment is taken automatically each month using the method you provided, until you cancel.

  • Failed payments. If a payment is declined we will email you and your listing keeps running for 3 days so you can fix the card. If it is still unpaid after that, the listing comes down. Your account and data remain — only the advertisement stops.
  • Price changes. If we change the price we will tell you at least one full billing cycle in advance, so you can cancel before it takes effect.

Card payments are processed by our payment provider. We never receive or store your card number.

Cancelling is covered in section 7, refunds in section 8, and what you get for the money in section 9.

7. Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel at any time from your subscription page. It takes effect immediately, there is no notice period and no cancellation fee, and you do not have to phone or email anyone to do it.

  • Your listing stays live until the end of the period you have already paid for, and comes down at the end of it.
  • Cancelling during your free trial stops the trial from turning into a paid subscription. You are not charged.
  • Your account, your listing content and your messages stay where they are. Only the advertisement stops, and you can publish again later.

8. Refunds

If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we refund that payment in full — no reason needed. Email us and we will process it back to the card you paid with, within 30 days and normally much sooner.

After that first 14 days:

  • We do not refund part-months. Advertising is billed monthly in advance and delivered continuously, so cancelling mid-month leaves your listing live until the period you paid for runs out rather than producing a refund.
  • Billing mistakes are always refunded in full — a duplicate charge, a charge after you cancelled, or a charge for a listing that never went live. Tell us and we will put it right.
  • If we discontinue paid listings entirely, or take your listing down for a reason that turns out to be our mistake, we refund the unused portion of what you paid.
  • If we close a paid listing because it broke these terms, we do not refund the remaining period.

Refund requests go to myservicebase@gmail.com. We will acknowledge within 5 working days.

9. What we deliver, and when

What you are buying is advertising space on ServiceBase. It is a digital service delivered over this website. There is nothing physical to ship, so there are no delivery charges, no delivery addresses and no shipping times.

  • Your listing goes live the moment you publish it. There is no review queue and no waiting period — it appears on the browse page and on its own public page straight away.
  • It stays live continuously for as long as the subscription is paid, and during your free trial.
  • The service is available worldwide, but it advertises businesses to customers in South Africa, and prices are in South African rand.
  • The verified badge described in section 5 is a separate manual check. It is not part of what you pay for, and paying does not buy one.

If you publish a listing and it does not appear, email myservicebase@gmail.com and we will sort it out or refund you.

10. Referring other providers

Every provider account has a personal referral link, shown only to you on your listings page. If another business creates a new ServiceBase account using your link, and we then verify that business’s listing (section 5), you earn one free month.

  • If your listing is still in its free period, the month is added to the end of it. If that period has already ended, the month starts from the day you earn it.
  • If you are already paying, or have a card on file, the month is applied as one monthly payment you are not charged for.
  • You earn one month for each referred account, however many listings it has. There is no limit on how many accounts you can refer.
  • The account must be new and must sign up through your link. Your own accounts, and accounts that already existed, do not count.
  • Free months have no cash value and cannot be transferred, exchanged or refunded.
  • Verifying a listing is our decision, made the same way for every listing. Referring someone does not entitle them to a verified badge.
  • We may withhold or reverse months earned through fake businesses, duplicate accounts or other abuse of the programme.
  • We may change or end the programme at any time. Months you have already earned will still be honoured.

11. How to behave

Whether you are a customer or a provider, do not:

  • Harass, threaten, defraud or abuse anyone through the site.
  • Send bulk unsolicited messages, or use the messaging system for advertising unrelated to an enquiry.
  • Post anything unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Scrape, bulk-download or resell listings or contact details.
  • Try to break, overload or get around the security of the site.

12. Reviews

Review a provider only if you genuinely dealt with them, and describe your own experience honestly. You may leave one review per listing, and you can edit or delete your own.

Providers may not review themselves, pay for reviews, or offer anything in exchange for one. We may remove reviews that are fake, abusive, off-topic or unlawful — but we do not remove a review simply because the provider dislikes it.

13. Content you post

Your listing text, photos, messages and reviews remain yours. By posting them you give us permission to store, display and distribute them for the purpose of running and promoting ServiceBase. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we are legally required to keep.

14. Availability

We aim to keep ServiceBase running but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue paid listings entirely, we will refund the unused portion of anything you have paid.

15. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including under the Consumer Protection Act — or excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Subject to that: we are not liable for the quality, safety, legality or outcome of any work arranged through ServiceBase, for anything a provider or customer says or does, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where we are found liable in connection with your use of the site, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

16. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is being used unlawfully, or puts other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first. If we close a paid listing for a breach, we do not refund the remaining period.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we will give reasonable notice of anything that materially affects you. Continuing to use ServiceBase after a change means you accept the updated terms.

18. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.

Complaints go to myservicebase@gmail.com. We will acknowledge within 5 working days and aim to resolve within 30. How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.
